It is important to nurture one’s emotional side for overall wellness. This includes having a sense of contentment, optimism, and cheerfulness. As well, it includes being able to manage stress,
navigate one’s feelings, and having a joy of living.
There are various signs of having an imbalance
in one’s emotional quadrant, including feeling angry, irritable, anxious, or depressed, experiencing mood swings, or
disconnecting from others. When your emotional quadrant is balanced with the other quadrants, you will feel your best.

A holistic approach to wellness recognizes that a person’s body, mind, spirit, and emotions are all interrelated
and need to be continually brought into balance. Experiences which are part of the physical quadrant (e.g. insomnia)
also affect the other quadrants (a person’s mind, spirit, and emotions). How to achieve balance is on-going and will
be different for each person. A journey towards balance and wellness may involve self-reflection, connecting with friends, family,
and community, using a variety of community resources, and/ or seeking support from a trained professional.
