The Niagara Holistic Wellness Initiative is made up of a team of people of diverse
backgrounds from Brock University, Niagara College, and community partners of the Niagara
Region who are committed to supporting post-secondary students’ learning, health, and
well-being in a holistic way.
Unique to our project is a holistic approach to wellness which is inspired by the Aboriginal
concept of the Medicine Wheel. Our aim is for students to have a resource tool to use to gather
information about mental health and wellness, reflect upon their own emotional well-being, and learn
about local resources which are available to them. This site serves as a tool for students to gather
information and resources for themselves, or for friends and family.
You may use this website by exploring each interconnected quadrant of the wheel—Body, Mind, Spirit, and Emotion.
In searching the definitions section, you can learn about terms associated with your overall mental health
and well-being. Search the local resources section to find supportive health resources. Log-in to access
tools, including our self-exploratory tool, which are designed to help you to learn more about yourself.
Browse our news sections to learn about up and coming community events and retrieve helpful articles.
Our hope is that as you explore our website you will learn more about maintaining holistic health
and well-being, as you discover something about yourself and explore the many supportive resources in
the Niagara Region and beyond. Feel free to share the Niagara Holistic Wellness Portal with others.
